Lilah: Part One

Once more I had the pleasure to work with Lilah, this time as my senior rep from Searsport High School, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.  There are so so many reasons I am happy that Lilah agreed to work with me.  First being that she is working her way up the ladder to become a professional dancer, it's always been one of my goals as a photographer to work with a dancer, but also because she does well to make sure that she excels at everything she puts her mind to.  She is the soccer captain, one of the most important members of the prom committee, and most importantly to her a high gold and platinum medal winner in recent dance competitions.  In the 4 years of dancing she has been able to achieve the level of someone who would have been dancing for 10 years.  Along with being proud of her dance accomplishments she is very proud of her Lebanese background and for me it's just one more reason it was great to shoot with her.  It's not often in a state like Maine that you get to work with folks whose heritage originates in other cultures outside that of Anglo Saxon (England, France, Ireland, etc.) regions.

In the end what Lilah wanted was, "Very classic, something timeless.  So when I look back 30 years I won't say, 'What was I?'" and I hope as a photographer I was able to achieve exactly that.  I'm more than excited to share these portraits, so without further adieu...
